A customer's unprotected administrative workstation was compromised, allowing malware to spread laterally to 18 servers. The organization had elected not to deploy Endpoint Detection and Response protection at the time.
Fortunately, its Backup and Disaster Recovery platform was already in place. Option Computer restored all affected servers to a clean, pre-infection state overnight, allowing the customer to resume normal operations without a prolonged productivity interruption.
Following the incident, the organization implemented managed EDR and MDR to strengthen endpoint protection, monitoring, and response.
